SINGAPORE – The Carbon Trust, a global climate change consultancy has certified global food ingredient supplier ofi’s digital footprint calculator.
The certification affirms that the methodology behind the tool meets ISO 14067 and other international standards, enabling accurate farm-to-factory carbon footprint calculations.
The Digital Footprint Calculator (DFC) is integrated into ofi’s sustainable sourcing solution, AtSource, which provides food and beverage companies with actionable data and verified traceability for their supply chains.
By leveraging the DFC, ofi customers gain access to carbon footprint insights derived from primary data collected across the company’s cocoa, coffee, nuts, and spice supply chains.
The tool allows businesses to work with ofi’s experts to assess carbon reduction strategies and enhance environmental performance.
Industry perspectives on the certification
Kunal Vadgama, Head of AtSource Commercialization at ofi, emphasized the importance of the certification in light of heightened scrutiny on corporate emissions and commitments to net-zero targets.
He stated that The Carbon Trust’s certification offers assurance that both the methodology and digital tool adhere to industry standards, supporting efforts to measure and address environmental impact.
Martin Hockaday, Head of Assurance at The Carbon Trust, noted that the consultancy worked closely with AtSource to ensure the model framework met ISO 14067 and other international standards.
He added that the outputs of this model would provide customers with actionable carbon footprint data for farm products, supporting long-term sustainability efforts.
Advancing digital solutions for sustainability
The DFC is one of several digital tools developed by ofi to enhance transparency and data-driven decision-making across global food and beverage supply chains.
By integrating digital solutions like AtSource, ofi enables businesses to track supply chain sustainability, monitor performance, and implement targeted interventions to align with evolving industry requirements and regulatory frameworks.
