Serengeti Breweries crowned ‘Manufacturer of the Year’

TANZANIA — Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) has been awarded the top honor as Tanzania’s leading alcoholic beverage manufacturer at the President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA), held in Dar es Salaam.

PMAYA, one of Tanzania’s most esteemed manufacturing awards, annually celebrates exceptional performance and commitment to excellence in the manufacturing sector.

SBL’s Managing Director, Obinna Anyalebechi, commended the dedicated efforts of the company’s team and expressed pride in the brewer’s focus on quality and sustainable practices.

“We remain committed to creating products that meet and exceed industry standards, maintaining our commitment to excellence and sustainability,” said Anyalebechi.

Tanzania’s Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango, represented President Samia Suluhu Hassan as the guest of honor.

Addressing the audience, he highlighted the Tanzanian government’s initiatives to bolster the country’s industrial sector through improved road and port infrastructure. These developments, he noted, are intended to support the export and import of goods, benefiting the industrial landscape.

The Vice President also called on manufacturers to increase their production of intermediate goods, aiming to reduce the country’s reliance on imported products and bolster the self-sufficiency of Tanzanian industries.

Strengthening local sourcing and rural communities

In recent years, Serengeti Breweries has intensified its commitment to local sourcing and agricultural investment, with over 75% of the raw materials used in its beer production sourced domestically.

This approach has had a substantial impact on Tanzanian farming communities, fostering job creation and sustainable farming practices across the country.

By prioritizing local supply chains, the brewery seeks to support rural economies and decrease dependence on imported materials.

Industry leadership and expanded product line

SBL’s achievements at the PMAYA follow its recent rebranding efforts in May, including the launch of a new product variant. The rebranding celebrated the brand’s legacy and its commitment to representing the Tanzanian spirit of resilience and progress.

Serengeti Lemon is a new product that mirrors the brand’s journey of growth and evolution.
