Global stakeholders convene at 8th Africa Agri Expo

KENYA – The 8th Africa Agri Expo (AAE), co-located with the Future Food, Livestock & Poultry Expo (FLIP), took place from February 19 to 20, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). 

The event gathered key government officials, policymakers, industry leaders, and global stakeholders, solidifying its status as a premier platform for agricultural development and investment in Africa.

The expo commenced with a keynote address by Mr. Tahir Abdul Bari, CEO and Managing Director of TAB Group, the event’s organizer. 

Held under the patronage of Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, AAE 2025 received support from various governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the National Irrigation Authority, Kenya Organic Agriculture Network, and the Kenya Investment Authority.

Exhibition and business development

The expansive exhibition showcased sectors such as agriculture, food, dairy, poultry, and livestock, featuring the latest technologies and solutions. 

The platform facilitated business development by connecting global innovators with Africa’s burgeoning market. 

Notable international participants included Inera, Silver Bedia, Underhaug, Niruthi, Swaroop Agrochemicals, Egyptchem, Novonesis, Bauer, Dimitra, CPOPC, Vertofx, OCP Africa, Chemanol, Draminski, Biotech International, Heifer, Agrotop, EMKA Incubators, Klybek, and Moontech.

Conference sessions

A concurrent high-profile conference featured speakers from Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, the State Department for Industry, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), and the Agricultural Finance Corporation. 

Discussions focused on government and regulatory support to strengthen Africa’s agriculture, livestock, and poultry industries.

County perspectives

A session moderated by Newton Kariyuki, Assistant Director for the Livestock Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, provided county-level insights. 

Panelists included Ms. Maureen Njeri, CECM of Green Nairobi; Mr. Paul Mugo, CECM of Agriculture, Trade Industrialization and Cooperative Development, Murang’a County; Hon. Lucas Mosenda, CECM of Agriculture, Migori County; and Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, CECM of Agriculture and Livestock, Kitui County.

Advancements in agro-defense and biosolutions

Another session addressed advancements in agro-defense and biosolutions, exploring topics such as biological inputs and eco-friendly practices in agriculture. 

Speakers included Srinivasakumar Karavadi, President of INERA™ Cropscience Private Limited; Krishna Mohan Puvvada, Regional President MEIA & Senior Vice President Planetary Health BioSolutions MEIA at Novonesis; and Stella SimiyuBW, Director of Regulatory, Policy and Standards at CropLife Africa Middle East.

Cross-regional collaboration

Discussions on fostering cross-regional collaboration featured Sheban Chitechi, Enterprise Development Coordinator for the Kenya Livestock Marketing & Resilience Project (KLMP); Abdikadir Mohamed, CEO of the Kenya Livestock Marketing Council; Israel Moseson, Owner and Director of Agrotop Ltd.; and Dr. Ahmed Othman, Managing Director of the Veterinary Vaccine Division at Klybeck Life Sciences SA.
