Anheuser-Busch strengthens commitment to Houston Brewery with US$14M

USA – Anheuser-Busch, the brewer behind household names such as Budweiser, Busch Light, and Michelob ULTRA, has announced a US$14 million investment in its Houston brewery.

This latest move highlights the company’s dedication to bolstering local operations and fostering economic growth.

The Houston brewery, operational since 1966, stands as a cornerstone of Anheuser-Busch’s extensive U.S. network.

Over the last five years, the brewer has funneled nearly US$2 billion into its facilities nationwide, reinforcing its position as a leader in the American brewing industry.

The Houston facility, in particular, has played a key role, with Anheuser-Busch investing US$2.3 billion in capital projects across Texas to date.

Enhancing quality and sustainability

The US$14 million will be directed toward significant upgrades at the brewery, focusing on maintaining industry-leading quality standards, maximizing efficiency, and improving sustainability.

Planned enhancements include replacing critical manufacturing infrastructure such as the warehouse roofing, elevators, and doors.

New air rinsers will be installed on can lines to significantly reduce water usage, while upgrades to wireless, fiber, and copper network connectivity aim to streamline operations and boost efficiency across the brewery.

“Investing in the places where our people live and work is part of who we are. By enhancing facilities like our Houston brewery, we not only improve our capabilities but also contribute to the prosperity of the communities that have supported us for generations,” Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Anheuser-Busch, emphasized the company’s commitment to the communities it serves.

Continued commitment to Texas

This year’s investment follows a US$22.5 million upgrade to the Houston site in 2023, which enhanced cooling systems, improved workplace safety, and reduced electricity consumption by 2.18 million kWh annually.

“We’ve been a proud member of the Texas community for nearly 60 years. This investment is a testament to Anheuser-Busch’s dedication to producing high-quality beer while making meaningful contributions to our local economy,” Ryan Hudgins, Senior General Manager of the Houston Brewery, expressed pride in the brewery’s longstanding role in the community.

Nationwide investments in brewing excellence

The Houston investment is part of a strategy by Anheuser-Busch to enhance its brewing capabilities across the U.S.

Earlier in the year, the company announced a US$16 million investment in its Los Angeles brewery in September, alongside US$7 million allocated to its Fairfield, California brewery in July.

Additional commitments include US$6.5 million for its Williamsburg, Virginia brewery in August and US$15.5 million to improve its Fort Collins, Colorado brewery in May.

With over 120 facilities across the nation and 65,000 employees, Anheuser-Busch continues to position itself as a critical driver of economic and community development.
